Visceral
mobilisation

Restoring the natural intrinsic movement of the internal organs and the surrounding connective tissue – for balance from within.

Kathrin Wiesmüller performing visceral mobilisation on the abdomen in her practice in Brunn am Gebirge

What is visceral mobilisation?

This mobilisation technique was developed by the French physiotherapist and osteopath Jean-Pierre Barral. Every internal organ has its own harmonious intrinsic movement and rotates around its physiological axis. All organs need to move freely in relation to one another and to the musculoskeletal system for the body to stay healthy in the long term.

Injuries, operations or psychological strain can reduce the range of movement of one or more organs and disturb the interplay of muscles, bones or connective tissue. This can lead to increased tension and pain.

The manual techniques range from gentle holds to clearly perceptible, deep ones and can bring about a marked improvement, even in long-standing problems.
